Mentor Position Description

Overview

• Reports directly to the Program Coordinator

• Collaborates with the Mentor Staff and Clinical Staff

• Works with a multidisciplinary team including therapeutic approaches, life skills mentoring, among other things in a milieu setting

• Communicates clearly and respectfully with participants (individually and as a milieu), educators, therapists, consultants, staff and parents

• Committed to making AIM House a great program by consistently following through on assigned responsibilities and by making the needs of the participants and the program the primary focus while on shift

• Participates in Trainings, Supervision Groups, All-Staff Meetings, and Community Group


Core Responsibilities 

• Maintain a strong awareness of the details and dynamics with each participant and within the house throughout each shift, and take steps to positively impact each participant and the larger community

• Consistently complete and utilize administrative tools (i.e. Intentions sheets, daily logs, monthly updates, daily chores, etc.)

• Document and communicate interactions and interventions with participants and the milieu to teams and therapists


QUALIFICATIONS

people who have varied life experiences, a developed sense of self-awareness, and a strong desire to learn and grow.

Open to giving and receiving honest feedback and a desire to intentionally engage in personal and professional goal setting and accountability

Having the ability to effectively manage a variety of relationships AND manage details and multiple tasks

 Must be a minimum of 25 years of age and have a clean driving record (required for vehicle insurance)

Bachelor’s degree preferably in the social sciences

Experience with addiction and recovery, and/or coaching, mentoring, and/or teaching is preferred

Flexible schedule with the ability to work set but varied shifts (days, evenings, overnights (awake/asleep)
