Boulder Colorado is a great place to live, not only because of its plethora of education and job opportunities, but also for the healthy, active, lifestyle that draws so many people to our beautiful city. In fact, Boulder is a wonderland for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts the world over.
And no wonder. Nestled at the base of the foothills of the majestic Rocky Mountains at an elevation of 5,430 feet, our lovely city boasts 300 days of sunshine a year. Which means the weather is usually prime for partaking in outdoor activities.
And here, there are many from which to choose. Hikers and mountain bikers will find more than a hundred miles of spectacular trails in Boulder County, many with trailheads within walking distance of AIM House. We’re also just a short drive away from famed climbing locations in Boulder Canyon and Eldorado Springs. And a mere thirty-minutes from Eldora Mountain Resort, where mentors bring AIM House participants weekly throughout the winter for skiing and snowboarding fun.
Summertime means jaunts to the Eldorado Springs Swimming Pool. Tucked in a spectacular canyon and directly fed by a natural artesian spring that flows out from the mountains, it’s a Boulder treasure. The warm season is also when participants enjoy trips to Winter Park Resort for mountain biking on high country trails that are as exhilarating as they are breathtaking.
On a daily basis, our participants are also encouraged to join their fellow AIM House residents for basketball games, weightlifting, and swimming at the Boulder Recreation Center. Take a yoga class at one of our many local studios. Or try their hand at indoor rock climbing at the Boulder Rock Gym, one of our participants’ favorite spots.
Whatever their interest or ability, our participants can readily find ways to add to their health and happiness here in Boulder. And we’re committed to helping them do just that.
