An Integrative Approach to Care

Through our partnership with Colorado’s Wholeness Center, the AIM House approach to the mental health and well-being of our participants combines the best of conventional psychiatric practice with the best of alternative holistic medicine.

Founded in 2010 by Dr. Scott Shannon, Wholeness Center has developed a model of balanced and collaborative mental health care that aims to treat the whole person, body and mind, by emphasizing skill-building, nutritional and lifestyle adjustments, and other naturopathic treatments alongside traditional psychiatry.

“We find that often medications can be helpful,” says Dr. Shannon. “Sometimes they’re transformational for people, but sometimes they actually hold them back.” Dr. Shannon and his Wholeness Center staff work with AIM House participants to strengthen their recovery and growth through a variety of integrative treatments, including dietary adjustments, nutritional supplements, mind-body therapies, acupuncture, and neurofeedback. These natural, holistic approaches to care, when combined with conventional medications, if necessary, and the support and structure of the AIM House program, empower our participants to build a foundation for healthy, sustainable living.
